PhD students Wiki
Welcome to the PhD-Wiki at GSI! If you are a new PhD student read this
On this wiki the you find information about work and daily life of !PhD students, Diploma students and Post-Docs. We hope that it can serve both current and new colleagues as a source of information on how buerocracy, work and daily life at GSI combine. We try to announce upcoming events by students for students and to keep a handy range of documents relating the buerocratic battles you may face at GSI.
The page is maintained by a group of PhD-students, the "Docteam". For historical reasons we call ourselves Helmholtz Juniors@GSI. We want to keep the PhD students life at GSI worthwile and we want to improve working conditions. We focus on workplace- and scholarship issues which can be adressed on a GSI-wide level. Additionally we offer social and science-related events. We have regular meetings about every month and more or less regularly organize a public meeting with all the PhD Students at GSI. You should think about joining the docteam, too if you have some ideals. To do so you can simply write an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, we're open to everybody.
Interesting news concerning PhD candidates at GSI are published in this section in irregular intervals.

The scientific program of the evaluation is still being discussed, however there will certainly be contributions from PhD students needed. Since many of you are funded by HIC for FAIR, it might be a very good idea to keep this day free, in case your supervisors ask you for contributions. This way we can avoid short notice schedule problems.

For student who need residence permit for staying in Germany longer than 90 days or so has to visit this Office. The Office was closed 2 years ago and has been reopened now and functioning properly. Helmholtz Juniors at GSI
There is no real established organization of the PhD students at GSI. Due to the fact that virtually all PhD Students at GSI are part of HGS-HIRe the official channel for complaints, problems with GSI or the grad school is Pradeep Ghosch, elected PhD representative at HGS HIRe. On top of that there exists a mailing firstname.lastname@example.org of PhD students interested that things go well at GSI. We try to pick up on issues before they become too pressing and do something about it. Additionally we organize regular PhD student meeting. You may always drop us a message if you have questions related to GSI PhD issues. Florian Senzel, !PhD representative of HGS-HIRe is also among the recipients. The current (April 2013) members of this mailing list are:
