Welcome to the AcceleratorControls web
Accelerator Controls Wiki
The Accelerator Controls (ACO) department is responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and ongoing modernization of the computer-based control and supervision systems for all GSI and FAIR accelerator facilities, including safety systems for both machines and personnel.
The control system currently supports the GSI accelerator complex—covering ion sources, UNILAC, SIS-18, ESR, CRYRING, and numerous beamlines. As the FAIR facility is built, major components like the SIS-100 synchrotron and S-FRS separator are being integrated. GSI and FAIR are treated as a unified system, requiring legacy GSI systems to be upgraded to modern standards.
ACO oversees the overall system architecture and works closely with other GSI departments, international FAIR partners, and CERN. Its scope includes hardware from field-level devices to control room systems, as well as software across all control system layers—field control, communications, operations, and SCADA.
