GSI Linux accounts
Applying for an account
Normally Linux accounts are created together with GSI Windows accounts, so if you have a Windows account or a mailbox on GSI's Exchange server, you most likely already have a Linux account.
If not you can apply for one by filling out the form http://www.gsi.de/accounts
In case you have forgotten your password it can be reset by GSI User Help Desk
. Normally you have to go there directly and bring your passport/ID.
If you cannot stop by in person, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
to negotiate possible procedures for password resets.
If you just want to change your password, follow the PasswordHowto
Users and groups
Every account belongs to exactly one primary group
. Additionally it may be member of multiple secondary groups
reveals which groups a user belongs to.
The primary group
may be temporarily changed by using
sg group -c command
for a single command invocation. If there is a password assigned to a group, also accounts not explicitly listed as a group member may change to this group.
will then ask for the group's password.
For permanent changes of the primary or secondary groups please email email@example.com
