G35 voltage divider assembly G35 Voltage Divider

The G35 precision voltage divider is a contributed device from Münster University. It can be connected to the HV platform of the ElectronCooler and provides a measurement of the voltage applied to the cathode.

Specification / Instructions

An extensive description of the technical specifications of the device and instructions for operation and calibration can be found in the G35 HV divider manual.

The readout of the divider is accomplished using a 8.5 digit Keysight 3458A multimeter, reachable under: decgpib001.acc.gsi.de, IP: 140.181.141.114 . The software for readout can be found in the Git repository

Important: During Dielectronic Recombination experiments, the G35 must be disconnected from the high-voltage platform of the electron cooler as it will significantly degrade the electron beam energy in fast ramps.

Calibration history

This device has been calibrated many times in the past. A formula for calculating the scale factor of each of the provided high voltage taps at a given input voltage is provided in the G35 HV divider manual. Important: for accurate results the offset and gain of the Voltmeter used for readout (in this case an 8.5 digit Keysight 3458A multimeter) has to be determined prior to the beamtime using a 10 V reference source (e.g. Fluke 732A voltage reference).
