OPE Webapps

The OPE web applications (ACCOPE Webapps) run on the virtual machine ASL152.

Virtual machines are created for groups (not per service). All members of the group have login rights.

A shared user bob exists. Direct (ssh-) login to the user bob is denied. All members of the group can sudo to bob without password (Usercontrolled Service).
sudo -u bob -s /bin/bash
cd ~

The web applications run on a Tomcat server. In the event of an error, they can be restarted by restarting a systemd service. The user bob can start or stop systemd units and enable them to be started on system reboot.

Restart service:
systemctl --user restart tomcat

Start service:
systemctl --user start tomcat

Stop service:
systemctl --user stop tomcat

Show status of the service:
systemctl --user status tomcat

To verify the start process of the service you can open a continous console log of the service in advance:
journalctl --user -f -xeu tomcat.service
