What is ROOT?

ROOT is a C++ based software with main emphasis on physics data analysis. ROOT provides a basic framework that offers a common set of features and tools for the domains of data analysis, data acquistion, event reconstruction and generation, detector simulation and related fields. The ROOT homepage of CERN gives more general information on this system.

At GSI, ROOT is centrally installed and maintained at the Linux cluster. See the list of Installations here.
