The Department also develops and deploys the Grid computing infrastructure for the LHC experiments, participates in EU-funded grid computing projects, like the EGEE project which reaches well beyond particle physics. IT collaborates closely with industry (through the CERN openlab for DataGrid applications) to develop advanced computing solutions and to enable IT technology transfer in both directions. The Grid Deployment Group (IT-GD)is responsible for coordinating the LCG and EGEE grid operations, and the integration, certification and testing of grid middleware.
