: we cannot make decissions which are financially relevant. We can give advice but not more. The Netherlands are not participating at FAIR. KVI is involved in NUSTAR controls. Process still in flow. The KVI activities are not yet really setteled.
FAIR technical coordinator: is defined, and will show up soon.
We can establish a discussions forum and give some advice.
Forum as discussion forum. Lengthy discussion abut the use of the forum.
Explenation of wiki as documentation site.
VRVS as video conferencing tool. Accelerator group checks out the video tool.
Documentation should be presented as papers anyway. The wiki should be an archive for all FAIRcontrols activities.
Everybody should write in the mission statemen his/her opinions about the GSI FAIRcontrols group.
Activities: CBM daq. DAQ demonstrator new target date: middle of next year. Free running trigger as main goal to be tested. FOPI introduced as CBM DAQ demonstrator experiment. Electronic boards for readout will be developed at GSI. Aim to use this hardware as new standard DAQ system. Infiniband cluster with 4 machines running JoernAdamczewski
ans Sergei. CMS xdaq system is under evaluation connection to controls via xdaq and or interface to EPICS.
: Short xdaq introduction. I to O messeging. Very good C++ code communication for controls as SOAP messages. Not compareable with "real" controls system.
LabView SOAP connection will be checked by JoernAdamczewski
RTES will be checked out once more by HansEssel
in March (conference). The decission of framework for the DAQ demonstrator needs to be taken till end of march. EPICS and LabView interfaces are needed.
: Introduction on Camillos system. This introduces something which is parallel to other control systems. It is a complete distributed system. ALICE HLT activities have the highest priority at the moment. Automation of maintainance (switch on/off, reset, check of processes) EPICS will be used to control the overall system. No single point of failure! Introduction of the system which allows to configure thousends of FPGAs. Linux inodes copy of bitstreams directly to the FPGA.
