Beam Control Program - How to Use the Chopper

The upper part of the program window gives an overview of the beam line, showing the status of the chopper, Faraday cups and trafos (target temperature is indicated, but is not currently operational [in version 1.3.0 build 8]).

The devices that the TASCA crew are allowed to operate have control buttons along this line. Simply click the "IN" button to engage the chopper (or Faraday cups). When done you click the "OUT" button.

NOTICE

1) The indicator for the Chopper only shows what the program requests (from the Interlock box, input #3). If other part of the TASCA control system has forced the chopper due e.g. a security condition, the chopper will remain in even if you push the "OUT" button.

2) Under normal operation, the Beam Control Program should be set to automatically engage the chopper if e.g. the beam current goes above a certain limit. If this is the case, you will not be able to disengage the chopper as the safety loop immediately engages it again.
