STF Computer Configuration

This page contains Information about the PC's at STF.

All Computers

  • All STF control system computers should be configured to auto-login the user stftests after powerup or reboot. To be configured with Wolfgang Rhein.
    • stftests should have remote desktop permission.
  • All necessary start-up programs should be put in the Autostart folder. To be configured.
  • Member of Campus domain with standard GSI configuration (Windows 7, 64 Bit)
    • Windows and other updates can be triggered by administrator. The installation is forced after some deadline.
    • If not stated otherwise SCCM Device Class: "Minimal software but updates" - Group:STF-PCs. Just a defined set of software.
      In case of questions refer to Sascha Osdoba.
    • Updates
      • Windows updates per WSUS (windows server update service) are triggered in default behaviour - updates can be installed with user interaction -> systray or if client is shutting down
      • Updates for software are triggered from SCCM (Software Center)
      • Security related updates (windows and software) are forced with deadline on every 2nd friday after 7 pm
      • Important updates (windows and software) are forced with deadline on last friday in month after 7 pm
    • TSM-Backup-Client

DEPC434

Purpose

This PC is located in Frank's Temperature Rack and is used as
  • Interface for the cryo facility at STF.
    • It reads process data from the cryo facility via OPC-UA.
    • It reads temperature data from magnets using LS218 connected via GPIB and writes them to the cryo facility via OPC-UA.
  • Interface for the KIT-QVison Quench Detection Systems.
  • All data is published as SharedVariables.

Following sections list the software and hardware configurations.

Software

  • Backup: Tivoli Storage Manager
  • NI Developer Suite 2015 DS2
    • LabVIEW 2015 (32 Bit) + Modules + Add-ons
    • DIAdem 2015 (32 + 64 Bit) 32Bit Version can access DSC historical data.
  • Virtual COM-Ports: Wieseman & Theis
  • STF Controls application

Hardware

  • NI-PCI-GPIB (GPIB::0)
    • 5 Lakeshore LS281 Temperature Monitors with GPIB addresses 1- 5
  • Network Connections
    • OPC-UA Server: STFOPC01.gsi.de or SPFOPC02.gsi.de
    • KIT Quench Detection Systems
      • W&T COM2 connected to COM8 at MTDEV006

MTDEV006

Purpose

This PC is serving the small KIT quench detection system (8 bridges) with QVision used for integration tests at the PTF (BH2).

Local admin rights are granted to Holger Brand and Walter Freisleben.

Configuration

  • i5-3610 ME, 2.7GHz, 4GB RAM
  • Network connected to LAN-Port 3, GigE, MAC: 00-E0-F4-2C-28-59, IP: 140.181.86.64
  • Windows 7 Prof. SP1, 64 Bit, installed by KIT and modified by GSI-IT for network integration
  • SCCM Device Class: "Minimal software but updates"
  • Virtual COM-Ports: Wieseman & Theis Soft-Link Version 3.73 including license installed
    • COM8 serving QVision remote control interface mapped to Port 8000 (Incoming TCP-Port opened), Baudrate 115200; QVision Remote-ID: 5
  • Quench detector control software: KIT QVision Version 3.3C_SP3 installed
    • QVision (english version) control mode is started from the Autostart after login of stftests: "C:\Program Files (x86)\QVision 3.3\QV.exe" /ENG/COP/RUN
    • Quench detector parameter set and QVision program settings for the inrtended test setup have to be adjusted in advance

MTPC116

Purpose

This PC is serving the KIT quench detection system for Feedbox 1 at STF (SH2) and is located within the QuD -Cabinet FB1.

Local admin rights are granted to Holger Brand and Walter Freisleben.

Configuration

  • i5-3610 ME, 2.7GHz, 4GB RAM
  • Network connected to LAN-Port 3, GigE, MAC: 00-E0-F4-2C-27-B4, IP: 140.181.67.95
  • Windows 7 Prof. SP1, 64 Bit, installed by KIT and modified by GSI-IT for network integration
  • SCCM Device Class: "Minimal software but updates"
  • Virtual COM-Ports: Wieseman & Theis Soft-Link Version 3.73 including license installed
    • COM8 serving QVision remote control Interface mapped to Port 8000 (Incoming TCP-Port opened), Baudrate 115200; QVision Remote-ID: 1
  • Quench detector control software: KIT QVision Version 3.3C_SP3 installed
    • QVision (english version) control mode is started from the Autostart after login of stftests: "C:\Program Files (x86)\QVision 3.3\QV.exe" /ENG/COP/RUN
    • Quench detector parameter set and QVision program settings for the intended test setup have to be adjusted in advance

MTPC118

Purpose

This PC is serving the KIT quench detection system for Feedbox 4 at STF (SH2) and is located within the QuD -Cabinet FB4.

Local admin rights are granted to Holger Brand and Walter Freisleben.

Purpose

This PC is serving the KIT quench detection system for Feedbox 2 at STF (SH2) and is located within the QuD -Cabinet FB2.

MTDEV009

Purpose

This PXI-PC is located in the STF container for now and is used as
  • Mobile Operating Station for the cryo facility at STF.
    • It will be used for local test execution, e.g. powerloss etc.
    • The PXI-e-8840 has built-in GPIB controller. A Keysight/Agilent 3458A will bi connected locally. A second Keysight/Agilent 3458A will be connected using a NI-GPIB-ENET interface.
    • A Pickering PXI-Switch card will be used to connect several signals to the local Keysight/Agilent 3458A .
  • All data is published as SharedVariables.
