The current leads connect the normal conducting warm power cables with the low temperature superconductors of the magnets or the busbars. They cause a large heat load into the cryogenic system. This load depends on the nominal current (ranging from 100 to about 8000 A) and on the lead type (normal conducting or superconducting).
