Graduate Schools at GSI

The aim of this section is to give a general overview about Graduate Schools, doctorate programs ("Graduiertenkollegs") and working contracts between PhD students and GSI.

Remember that the information you will find here might not be the very latest and will not cover all technical details but we try to keep it up to date.

HGS-HIRe

Most of the PhD Students working at GSI are enrolled in the Helmholtz Graduate School for Hadron and Ion research (HGS-HIRe). For a general overview you can have a look at the schools webpage HGS-HIRe.

The Helmholtz Graduate School for Hadron and Ion Research "HGS-HIRe for FAIR" is funded by the Initiative and Networking Fund of the Helmholtz Association and is a cooperation between

Institutes:

  • the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung, Darmstadt,
  • the Technical University Darmstadt
  • the Goethe University Frankfurt
  • the Justus Liebig University Giessen
  • the Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg
  • the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz
  • the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS)
It promotes and supports structured PhD education for research associated with GSI and FAIR. Scientific partners are

Partners:

  • the Helmholtz Research School for Quark Matter Studies in Heavy ion Collisions H-QM
  • the Extreme Matter Institute EMMI
  • the Helmholtz International Center for FAIR
  • the Research School for Hadrons, Hypernuclei, Heavy Elements and Antimatter MAINS
  • the Giessen School for Complex Quantum Systems
