Physics Lecturer in California

PHYSICS DEPARTMENT, TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION(S). CALIFORNIA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY

The Physics Department invites applications for full-time, academic year, tenure track positions at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, beginning 9/8/08. Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach undergraduate physics and to maintain an active professional development program that provides research experiences for undergraduate students on campus. Ph.D. in physics or related field required. Must provide evidence of potential for high quality teaching. Applicants in fields that complement the existing research activities in the department and interdisciplinary programs at Cal Poly are particularly encouraged to apply. Currently the department is active in the fields of high energy physics, soft condensed matter/biophysics, optics, astronomy, geophysics, and physics and astronomy education; and the campus has ongoing collaborations in sustainability and marine science. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. All requirements for the Ph.D. must be completed prior to 9/8/08.
