W2 Professorship Software for HPC

The Johann Wolfgang Goethe University of Frankfurt, Germany in cooperation with the Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research (GSI, Darmstadt, Germany) is looking for a qualified professional to fill position described as follows:

Department of Computer Science and Mathematics

Professorship (“W2”) Software for High Performance Computing.

The applicant should have expert knowledge in the development of the high performance event and/or track reconstruction software employed in major physics experiments. He/she should have distinguished him-/herself through contributions to new computational concepts as well as to algorithms for modern, multi- and many core architectures. Experience in interdisciplinary research networks as well as major international collaborative projects is required.

With this call for professorship the University is seeking to expand and strengthen its emphasis on the importance of “complex systems” for the computational science faculty. The research of the professorship are in the context of the “LOEWE-Initiative” (county of Hessia) at the Helmholtz International Center for the Facility of Antiproton and Ion Research (“HIC for FAIR”).

The successful applicant will be expected to participate regularly in teaching activities at the Department of Computer Science and all interdisciplinary courses with a computational science emphasis.
