Standard Turn-On—Measure—Turn-Off Procedure

ALWAYS WEAR BLUE GLOVES WHEN TOUCHING THE INSTRUMENT!

Turning on the device

1. Sheath should be at least half full
2. Turn key switch on FACS
3. Check in logbook if UV lamp is cooling down. If it is cooling down, wait before turning it on!
4. Start FACS Logbook
5. Turn on POWER Switch on Laser
6. Turn key switch on Laser
7. Only if needed (DNA stain with DAPI or Hoechst): Press button to turn on UV lamp and wait 20 minutes before starting a measurement

Measurement

1. Switch the Laser from Standby to Run
2. Start FloMax
3. Set up sample file OR load earlier measurement
4. Load settings file
5. Set Speed to 1
6. Pull out tube, wait until Status says READY
7. Put in sample tube until it snaps in
8. Instrument should start measuring automatically

Ending measurement and shutting down the device

1. Save your settings file if necessary
2. Set speed to 20
3. Fill empty tube at half with green solution and let it run until it stops by itself
4. Fill empty tube at 3/4 with aq. dest. and let it run until it stops by itself; Leave the tube in the sample holder.
5. Switch the laser from Run to Standby
6. Turn the key switch on the laser AND WAIT until the green light is off before turning the POWER switch off
7. Press STOP button on FACS log book! Very important!
8. Shutdown the computer
